Perfectly Imperfect
We've been hearing it for a while. That the best feminine dresses look best when paired with a rougher, edgy leather jacket. We've seen it in the J. Crew catalog with sequins for day paired with denim shirts, and models wearing evening dresses with hiking boots and messy hair. So what gives? Well, apparently, it's a "thing." And while I call it perfectly imperfect (I've been wearing the look without trying--or knowing--for years), others are calling it an "intentional screw-up." And I actually happen to like the idea. It's unexpected, which is the best part. You can wear a tuxedo blazer over jeans, flats to a dressed-up affair, or a clutch for day. Yes, you read that right. It's challenging conventional style rules in the best possible way. Changing the things we've come to expect and slowly tweaking them to make them our own. Bought a sequined dress and spent so much that you don't want to just wear it to just one special party? Figure out a way to wear it to work during the week! Got a great chambray button-down that makes you happy? Why not figure out a way to dress it up for a holiday party. With imagination at play (and a style of dressing that seems to be a trending topic), now's as good a time as ever to start experimenting!
