The Short Hair Story

I had a bit of an incident where my hair wound up way shorter than anticipated. The result is it's been up and pulled back ever since. After seeing these images of Elle's Editor-in-Chief, I decided that maybe that isn't the worst thing. Twisted back in a modified French Twist, in what this editor calls her Bam-Bam style, I actually think the style looks quite chic. Bobby pins and fish clips in tow, this may be my new 'do.

How To Still Wear Winter Shoes

Admittedly, I've been holding onto a pair of black suede smoking slippers that I really have no business wearing so late in the game. But, they're so comfy, in my mind still go with everything and make me happy. So what's a girl to do--and how do I transition them into summer? This photo shows you can still wear the dark shoes you love, just go for a jean in a lighter wash, add an effortless cuff if you can to show some skin and try for some lighter colors on top (think a chambray shirt, grey v-neck or bright print button-down).

Desktop Design

I spend a good amount of time at a desk, whether at work or at my makeshift one at home and I've come to appreciate one with standout design. This curved version looks like a beautiful statement necklace up close. The ornate "legs" make this anything but ordinary, giving you less actual desk space but certainly more to talk about and a welcome addition to any room. Keeping everything in a nice vertical line above the desk makes sure that the eye is drawn to the wide base, too, making it that much more extraordinary.

How To: Pull off Pajama Dressing

This undone look appears to be pretty relaxed. From the easy silhouettes to the loose fits and drapes, it looks just about as comfortable as it gets. But how do you keep things looking good--and profesh--while still working this pajama dressing trend quite well? This pic says it all. From the topnot to the sleek open-toe sandal, there's so much here to work off of. Pair the two together with pajama pants or a really relaxed sweater like this and you've got a "done" undone look in a cinch.

My Fave: Denim on Denim

Whilst traveling recently, a friend commented in jest about my jean on jean look. My response? But, of course. It seemed logical to me. I keep wearing my chambray shirt and any kind of denim because it seems foolproof. Here's a way to wear it into summer. Lighten the wash on top and keep the denim on bottom pretty standard. Add a pair of accent shoes (or a great chuck taylor with a cuffed jean) and you've got the look down pat. Regardless, it's my day-to-day uniform dressing at its best.

Summer's Little White Dress

As summer draws near, it's so easy to get swept up in the frenzy of finding the perfect little white dress. If it's too short, it's not good, too tight and it's a disaster. The ones that work best are those with a vintage-y feel or ones that have a bit of a prairie vibe. Balance it with some tougher accessories like a neutral or muted tone bootie, fun statement necklace or stackable friendship bracelets and a jean jacket--always a jean jacket.

The Search for the Perfect Stripe

I more than sadly just had to dispose of my favorite striped tee. Through thick and thin, I'd worn it to the bone and sadly it showed. So now I'm on the hunt for the perfect replacement and somehow it comes at the same time as the chic relaunch of the brand Chance. Perfect timing? Perhaps. Do I want subtle stripes, sailor stripes, a bateau neck, something slouchy? Time will tell, or I'll stockpile again. After all, stripes are the next best neutral.

SPOTTED: Tabitha Simmons x J. Crew

Well now here it gets good. I love me some Tabitha Simmons and always ogle at her insanely amazing shoes. Now the CFDA runner up has paired with J. Crew for an uber cool capsule collection that's bringing us her signature designs in more affordable prices and summer-friendly prints and patterns. Would live in these sandals come summer and the liberty print heels are the perfect pairing to boyfriend jeans or a skinny pair with a crisp white tee.

Tumblr x Club Monaco

Club Monaco has released yet another totally lustworthy collection and partnered with some of today's hottest bloggers to pedal the wares. It's a collection of fall's best bets, including a mixture of darker colors, pops of pastels, great pairings of textures and as always a hint of Parisian charm that always steals my heart.

The Four-Fingered Ring

I can't even make it a few hours with a ring on that I don't immediately need to take off but having one on every finger, let alone thick ones like these make quite a statement. Wearing an identical one so that the effect is a four-fingered ring is perfect. Even though it's a lot, it appears almost streamlined at the same time, making the whole look quite sleek--tough but still exactly what you want to wear.

Cool Color Combo: Magenta + Turquoise

As summer's rounding that corner, some of the brightest colors are the best of the season. Instead of adding one in at a time, sometimes pairing a few together can be that much more inspired. Here, a hot pink dress, perfect for day or night wear is paired with subtle turquoise accents that keep things so much more interesting than just white. They're different enough that they work well together and you can add in a bit of chambray for the perfect trifecta.

Lanvin Does Lancome

On the heels of the news that Phillip Lim is the next designer to collaborate with Target (um, yes!), I got excited at this latest designer pairing because it's in the world of beauty. Alber Elbaz, the magical mastermind behind Lanvin, has teamed up with Lancome for a limited-edition set that'll debut June 15. Plus in really collectible updates of their bestsellers, this is definitely not one to miss.

Not So Basic Tee

I think it's challenging to not get stuck in the white or grey t-shirt rut, particularly during summer when things go the way of uber casual. So how to update the ubiquitous cut-offs and boyfriend jeans with something that looks a bit more polished? These silk t-shirts are just the right thing with a short sleeve and pocket they look just casual enough but in a print that pops, they add a fun spin on weekend dressing.

The Perfect Summer Silhouette

Spring and summer are all about finding--and wearing--that ubiquitous floral dress. From showers to weddings, it's all about a print that's not too sweet but still is just femme enough. I love the shape of this one because it's got a really nice slimming effect. Because the eye-catching yellow detailing is concentrated to the mid-line, it draws the eyes in, creating a universally flattering shape. It's the perfect pick for all those floral-ready affairs.

Here Comes The Bride

Talk about bucking convention. This line of bridal wear takes boho to the next level. This, for instance, is one of their wedding looks. But, I think you can actually grab a few of their options and wear them everyday, like their floral crowns, paisley threads, and lace shawls that when worn on your big day can look like a hippie alternative, or just a really different layering piece for your everyday dressing.

TOMS x Jonathan Adler

I'm a total sucker for a lazy day spent in a pair of softer than soft TOMS. They may do good, but they feel even better. I love that they've also quietly launched sunglasses and love even more that they've partnered with kitschy interior designer guru extraordinaire Jonathan Adler for a cute collab. Updating the Wayfarer-esque shades in a great bold blue with his needlepoint soft case, it's a stylish new update to an otherwise already perfect piece.

Friendship Bracelets

Maybe it's because everyone got into the spirit of wearing their Coachella bracelets for weeks on end, or because neon seems to be an even increasingly popular trend that just won't quit, but I'm down for embracing the friendship bracelet trend just a little bit longer. Summer seems the perfect time to do so with a few fun different textures, prints and designs along the way. A wrist stacked like this is the perfect update to any white tee and a more casual alternative to a blinged out arm party.

Ferragamo Goes Modern

Having grown up around women who idolized the bow-adorned Ferragamo Varina flat, the fact that they're making a modern-day comeback brings a smile to my face. The brand has just launched a new website where you can customize your own flats. Choose the leather, the grossgrain bow and hardware to make your own perfect pair and find ones that will be wearable with everything you've already got.
