FIRST LOOK: Calypso for Target

Looking through the latest issue of Lucky mag and I got super excited. I had totally forgot that Calypso was coming to Target and right in time for summer their ads are out. The best part? They're set to hit stores on May 1. The mix of home goods and breezy dresses come in the colors that I've been craving and I'm psyched that I can give my look and home a subtly boho update. These pics speak volumes and I'm excited at what I see. Marking my filofax now!

What to Wear: Coachella

So it turns out I am going to Coachella (le sigh), but here's where I'm just like you--I have NO idea what to wear. I know it's gonna be hot (aka, ixnay any pants), and I know that I'm gonna want to be comfy. Translation: some sort of boho type maxi that is breezy, comfy, and can withstand the dust and heat. I've been scouring every major website but know that I want something that isn't that expensive because I don't quite know how it's gonna wear through my first outdoor music experience. Wanting something that pairs well with a denim jacket (hoping it gets cooler at night) and isn't too hippie enough that I can wear it again. Thoughts?

Prints Charming from J. Crew

So I'm prob not the only one, but of late I've kind of been noticing that the prices of my beloved J. Crew have been going up. Their shoes? Not totally accessible anymore. But watching this video and seeing what they go through just to find a unique, beautiful trip and I realize some of that price goes into that craftsmanship (and those dreamy trips to Italy). The end result? Prob totally worth it, and doesn't that look like just the most insane job ever? And those hand-done prints are beyond cool.

New Site to Bookmark

One of my fave daily stops, Refinery29, alerted me this week to a new site that I have to bookmark--and so should you! Fashion Stake culls together amazing up-and-coming designers in one online marketplace and lets you vote on which of their designs are the coolest in a crowd-sourcing type phenom. It's like a super easy way to scour a local emerging designer mart and I love that I can do it from the comfort of my own couch. Take a look.

Moto Meets Lady

I'm sorry, but how cool is this jacket. I've been a fan of the motorcycle style for a few seasons now. It makes me feel so much cooler than I really am and I love that edgy vibe it gives off. Plus it's uber-flattering, which any girl would love. I love that this J. Crew version pairs some ladylike tweed with a bit of a biker-chic look. I'm not totally ready for a full-on tweed jacket so this may be the next best thing in the meantime. It mixes elements that are so "me" and dresses us my favorite style in something with a bit more "oomph" for Spring. Well done!

TEXTILE for Elizabeth and James

And speaking of flare leg jeans, Tuesday night I had the privilege of finally trying the flare jeans of my dreams. I've been hearing for some time that the new Textile denim arm of Elizabeth and James made the most awesome flares (called the "Jimi"), and last night, after meeting the girls, I got to slip myself into a pair. While someone sneakily told me that people say they're as comfortable as pajama jeans (and I laughed dismissively), I'm embarrassed to admit that they are freakishly soft and comfy. They make my legs look insanely long (which they're not) and make me feel way cooler than I actually am. Plus, the jeans have got the resounding endorsement of MK and A, which means they're good enough for me.

Street Style Inspiration of the Day

See, I told ya bold pants were going to be awesome--and look SO good! I think the wearer here (a totally chic editor in NYC), does it right. She's paired the red with khaki and makes them perfect for Spring. If you paired with some greys and even army green, they'd be equally perfect for fall. The cropped style is perfect for that bright pop of color and it's a total "get me noticed" ploy that give you all the fashionable attention you deserve. I'm even starting to realize that cropped pants (not shin length but really ankle length) really give you the best opportunities to show off your shoes. You get cute ones, so why cover them with your extra-long flare legged jeans!
