Teeny Tiny Purses

I know, I know. They're known for their dizzying chevron, zigzag prints. But lately it's their shocking colors and even leopard prints that have me most excited. I was perusing Shopbop the other day (not exactly out of the ordinary) and I came across a cute selection of easily affordable handbags from M Missoni. Now these aren't quite everyday bags but they look perfectly poised for a beach vacation or two. In fun prints, great colors and unconventional textures, they're made for their day in the sun--or sand. Plus in their teeny tiny shapes I like that they fit not much more than a lip gloss, drivers license and devil may care attitude. If you're on vacation, you don't need much else. M Missoni bags. Who knew?

Street Stye Inspiration for the Weekend

I can't say that I have ever been to Phoenix, but with their constant sunny climes, I'm not at all surprised that people there look like this. Perfectly tanned and with glossy highlights, this girl would be a stunner even without her effortlessly chic outfit. I may still be wearing my skinny jeans day in and out but my eyes are firmly planted on bootcut and flares right now. She's got the look down pat with a great, almost-tribal necklace, wearable earth tones and an oversized grandpa cardigan that's fresh because the sleeves are rolled up and she's stacked on some cool metal bangles. The look is pitch perfect and now I want to go to Arizona. Street style at it's best.

How to Mix Prints

If you're anything like me, you're in a bit of a charcoal grey, faded black rut these days. If you're feeling sunny, you manage to slip into a pair of brown boots. That's the extent of it. So when I see a cheerful print, I get pretty much ecstatic. Imagine the ecstasy when I saw the combination of patterns that at first site seem to clash terribly and then when you fix your gaze on them blend into one harmonious pretty look. I think you can break the look up with a belt (I would even go with a leopard print one if you're really going for it) and wear an outfit like this to get you in the mood for Spring's pretty palette. What better way to cure the Winter blues (and blacks)?

A New Ring to Wear

I've never really been a ring person. After a Paris pickpocket robbed me of some of my favorites, I've never really gotten back into the swing of the ring. But sometimes just sometimes I find some that I like--and you know I love something that's just a little bit different. These rings are meant to be worn on the top portion of the finger for something that's entirely unconventional and unexpected. Not sure how comfortable it would be, but you could easily double up and maximize the bling. I like the idea of wearing a simple band or signet ring up top with something more elaborate or chunky down below at the base of the finger. If you're going to go all out, why not?

Color Combo: Turquoise and Coral

I am all about trying out new color combinations and yesterday I touted the merits of pairing different shades of blue for the ultimate effect. I've been in a Winter rut so I've been toying with a darker palette for what seems like months. But thanks to Shopbop, I saw some beautiful Resort colors today. The combination of coral and turquoise certainly isn't new, but it's fresh once again--especially considering the frosty temps outside. I love this turquoise necklace placed against the buttoned-up collar, which seems the antithesis of a season that we consider one meant for showing as much skin as possible. It's ladylike and still edgy with bold accessories and an exotic print that both catch the eye. The combination is pitch perfect.

SPOTTED: Jason Wu for Target

After the frenzy that was Missoni for Target (after all that, all I ended up with was two vases), I am happy to report that the first pictures of their latest collaboration have hit the internet and they look pretty good. Big name designer Jason Wu (A fave of MObama) is bringing his ladylike silhouettes to the mass retailer to bring us a tough of femme whimsy for a fraction of the cost. We're just getting one picture right now but there are promises of more to come. Loving the fits and how un-Target it feels and looks. Just what we're going to be in the mood for come Spring, when it hits.

Street Style Inspiration of the Day

If you're feeling blue, what with the end of the holiday season and starting back at work, here's something to make those shades of blue a bit more desirable. I happen to have so much blue in my closet and I love taking stock of other blue looks that are done just right. The voluminous sleeves and below-the-knee hemline aren't what you would expect on someone so young, but somehow with the white socks and high heels they feel fresh once again. Pair textures and different shades if you're going to stick with one color, that way you can stay new, even while wearing things that are already in your closet.
